Surah Ađ-Đuĥaá - سورة الضحى
(The Forenoon after Sunrise)
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Sahih InternationalBy the morning brightness
PickthallBy the morning hours
Yusuf AliBy the Glorious Morning Light,
TransliterationWallayli itha saja
Sahih InternationalAnd [by] the night when it covers with darkness,
PickthallAnd by the night when it is stillest,
Yusuf AliAnd by the Night when it is still,-
TransliterationMa waddaAAaka rabbuka wama qala
Sahih InternationalYour Lord has not taken leave of you, [O Muhammad], nor has He detested [you].
PickthallThy Lord hath not forsaken thee nor doth He hate thee,
Yusuf AliThy Guardian-Lord hath not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased.
TransliterationWalal-akhiratu khayrun laka minaal-oola
Sahih InternationalAnd the Hereafter is better for you than the first [life].
PickthallAnd verily the latter portion will be better for thee than the former,
Yusuf AliAnd verily the Hereafter will be better for thee than the present.
TransliterationWalasawfa yuAAteeka rabbuka fatarda
Sahih InternationalAnd your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied.
PickthallAnd verily thy Lord will give unto thee so that thou wilt be content.
Yusuf AliAnd soon will thy Guardian-Lord give thee (that wherewith) thou shalt be well-pleased.
TransliterationAlam yajidka yateeman faawa
Sahih InternationalDid He not find you an orphan and give [you] refuge?
PickthallDid He not find thee an orphan and protect (thee)?
Yusuf AliDid He not find thee an orphan and give thee shelter (and care)?
TransliterationWawajadaka dallan fahada
Sahih InternationalAnd He found you lost and guided [you],
PickthallDid He not find thee wandering and direct (thee)?
Yusuf AliAnd He found thee wandering, and He gave thee guidance.
TransliterationWawajadaka AAa-ilan faaghna
Sahih InternationalAnd He found you poor and made [you] self-sufficient.
PickthallDid He not find thee destitute and enrich (thee)?
Yusuf AliAnd He found thee in need, and made thee independent.
TransliterationFaamma alyateema fala taqhar
Sahih InternationalSo as for the orphan, do not oppress [him].
PickthallTherefor the orphan oppress not,
Yusuf AliTherefore, treat not the orphan with harshness,
TransliterationWaamma assa-ila falatanhar
Sahih InternationalAnd as for the petitioner, do not repel [him].
PickthallTherefor the beggar drive not away,
Yusuf AliNor repulse the petitioner (unheard);
